Padmabhooshana Dr.D.Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala and the President of S.D.M. Educational Society is the inspiration behind the success of the College, with his commitment to human Welfare and Social Development through Education.

For 50 years, the institution has rendered Yeomen Service to the public by providing health care, as well as to the students a qualitative value based ayurvedic education. The period from 1st July 2007 - 2008 has been recognized as Golden Jubilee Year.

The Institution provides Ayurvedic education at Graduate and Postgraduate levels which are regulated by the statutory Apex body Central Council for Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M.) affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, Bangalore.
