Once upon a time, Kashi ( Varanasi ) was the center of Ayurvedic Surgery in the time of Kashiraj Dibodas Dhanwantari and from then Kashi has produced great Ayurvedic scholars. Till 17th century A.D. great Vaidyas like Bhava Misra and others keep Ayurveda in a shining way. Afterward, it was very much limited in medicinal treatment only, because of the interference of British rule and western medicine. The important thing is the Vaidyas has not scared to practice Ayurvedic medicine, but it is the matter of sorrow that, they were not practicing the most effective therapies like Panchakarma, Rejuvenation etc anymore.
