The Pankajakasthuri Ayurveda Medical College, Kerala's first self-financing Ayurveda Medical College, was inaugurated and dedicated to the public on the 28th of August 2002, by the honorable chief minister of the state, Sri. A. K.Antony.
Various departments under efficient doctors conduct Out-Patient consultancy on all days from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm. Major departments are – Kayachikitsa (General Medicine), Shalya Tantra (orthopedics), Shalakya Tantra (ENT), Prasuti Tantra & Striroga (Gynecology & Obstetrics), Kaumarabhrithya (pediatrics), Agada Tantra (toxicology), surgery (by allopathic doctors), Swasthavritta + yoga.
Students get training in emergency management, in suturing, suction, POP, etc. in the allopathic section in the hospital. They are also lucky to have the experience in ksharasuthra, jalukavatharam, chethana and lekhanakarma in salya unit.
PAMCH possesses one of the biggest panchakarma sections. 80-100 kriyakarmas are being done every day by efficient and experienced panchakarma therapists under the guidance of excellent physicians, PKHIL manufactures classical medicines and patent products, which are available in our market.
Yoga therapy is given to the patients after consultation with the swasthawritha department. Yoga camps are also conducted during the vacation time for students to increase their academic efficiency. Physiotherapy is given to all the bedridden patients as a supportive measure for a speedy recovery.
The college aims to promote Ayurveda through trend-setting education, intensive research and developments programmes, expert guidance on the basic principles, etc. with a view to propagate this ancient branch of science at a global level.
